Diagnostic Care
In House laboratory:
Our in-house laboratory allows us to obtain fast, accurate results, which will lead to a more timely diagnosis. Our in-house laboratory includes: hematology, blood chemistry analysis, serology, parasitology, and microbiology services.
• Pre-anesthetic Profile (PAP): This blood screening is performed on pets that will be undergoing anesthesia. It is a smaller panel that provides the doctor with an assessment of your pet’s kidney and liver functions, which are the organs that metabolize the anesthesia. It also evaluates blood glucose and red blood cell counts.s also evaluated to check for diabetes or hypoglycemia and blood counts are checked to evaluate for anemia and infection. It is vital for the pet to be tested prior to any surgical procedure so that we can better prepare and plan an individualized anesthetic protocol to suit his/her individual needs.
• General Health Profile (GHP): This is a more comprehensive blood screening that can be vital in detecting early stages of illness or disease. The comprehensive panel may be recommended prior to surgery if the pet is older or higher risk, as part of a wellness plan in older patients, or to diagnose disease in sick patients.
Digital X-Ray:
X-rays help our veterinarians evaluate musculoskeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. Digital imaging permits the veterinarian to see images much more clearly. With digital imaging we have the capability of burning the x-ray images onto a disc.
• We also partner with Pet Rays, allowing us to send our x-rays to board-certified radiologists if necessary in order to obtain an accurate diagnosis.
Ultrasound Services:
This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available.
